Silver Frames
A Beautiful Silver Frame
I have no doubt that you’ve not only heard of but seen a silver frame at least once as you’ve been browsing either online or in your favorite or local craft or department store. The silver frame is made of sterling silver that is sometimes mixed with either nickel or steel. “Well, how will I know if a silver frame is really sterling silver? I mean, I know that sterling silver jewelry has a mark of .925 on it when truly is sterling silver. Does that hold true for picture frames as well.” Well… I believe so. I have picked up a silver frame and seen the .925 mark that you’ve spoken of stamped into the back of that frame. From what I know of silver in general, silver jewelry, and silver frames in particular… you’ll find that .925 stamp on any silver frame that is truly sterling silver. Doe this answer that particular question and do you have more questions for me on this subject? “Well, yeah… I guess so. What I mean to say is that you’ve answered my first question, nut now I’ve got a couple more for you.”
Okay, please go ahead and ask your questions; after all, that is why you folks are here today, isn’t it? “Yes. We all have gotten a great deal of information already about the different kinds of picture frames available to us. You’ve done a really good job of explaining the differences between the many types and styles of wood frames and the information you’ve given us so far about plastic and metal frames is really fantastic. I didn’t know that there were people like you, people who know so much about this stuff.”
Thank you for the compliment. There are quite a few people that really know their stuff when it comes to picture frames. What other questions do you have for me about our subject, the humble silver frame? “Just one, can you tell us about you own experience looking for and buying a silver frame? Have you ever bought one, I mean?” Yes, I’ve not only done my research on silver frames, but I have many of them in my home. You see, I prefer silver frames to wooden one any day of the week. To me they are just more beautiful as well as being more durable and outlasting many a wood frame in my home over the years. To me a silver frame isn’t just beautiful; it is also very versatile and functional.
“Okay. We all get what you’re saying. I happen to agree with you about a silver frame being more desirable than a wood frame. They get broken too easily in my house too. What sizes will we find available for our favorite frames? What I’m really asking is this; I’ve got a rather large painting that I’ve been given and I choose to put it in a silver frame because the silver will perfectly compliment the colors in the painting itself. I have that painting with me, if you wish to see it.” The woman unrolled a painting that looked as thought it was originally in, or on, a 20 in by 24 in frame. Ma’am, it looks like you’ll need a 20 x 24 frame for that gorgeous painting; and you are correct in your choice. A silver frame will compliment that lovely painting perfectly!
