Fanciful Art Frames

Hey, I’ve just purchased this awesome painting and I need a frame for this beautiful piece of art. Where should I go to find what I need?  Now that is a great piece of art. This painting is very worthy of an awesome frame. The best place to begin looking for art frames is your local Wal-Mart or craft store. You would rely be surprised at the selection of art frames out there.

What kinds of frames are art frames?  Well…any frame can become an art frame. More often than not…the painting or artwork in the frame usually costs more than the frame itself. Go figure!

I’m thinking about getting a really elaborately carved and gilded wood frame for my new artwork. Where can I start shopping for this? For that type of frame, you would check with either the art gallery you bought the artwork from or you can contact the framing studio or custom frame maker. Thought, personally, I would begin a search like that on the Internet. You can get a good bit of information this way. This might be just the ticket for you. However, looking in your phone book might be just as productive in this pursuit. Another avenue to explore is to ask your friends and/or family if they have any good information for you. The long and short of it is this: you can look just about anywhere that sells art frames in the style that we are talking about here.

Why would I want to but a cheap frame for my expensive painting? Oh, I don’t know… maybe for the sheer beauty that inexpensive art frames have. Just because something is expensive does not necessarily mean that it is better than something that is as beautiful as it is inexpensive. The phrase “Beauty Is in the Eye of the Beholder” comes to mind here. If you choose to purchase an expensive frame for your artwork, so be it. I am not saying that you have to buy an inexpensive frame… that choice is solely yours. I am only providing a bit of useful information.

Ask yourself a few worthwhile questions… the answers might give you a place to start when you’re searching for those art frames. You might want to start with this train of thought… I know what my personal tastes are and what type or design of frame will look the best around this piece of art? Another avenue to explore when making this very important decision is that of matching the frame’s design and artistry to that of the piece of art that will go in said frame. The last thing you might want when you choose those art frames is to have the frame upstage the piece of art that it’s around. You would be surprised how many people really don’t think about this particular little detail. Of course, there are people out there who really don’t care if the frame upstages or outdoes the artwork in it. For some people, this is exactly their intent. They simply liked the chosen frame so much that they never give any thought to the fact that the frame is competing with the artwork itself.
